The challenge
The main problem faced by Leap Local was an identity crisis, where did they fit in the complex world of travel and tourism? The Design Office assisted Leap Local to address this issue with the design and development of a new brand identity in 2006.
With a clearer focus the Leap Local team wanted to create greater awareness of their services and to develop simple consistent messages to convey the benefits and value of their offer to their target market.
The Design Office worked alongside their strategic marketing partner, FlipFlop Marketing, to develop the strategy that resulted in an upgrade to the Leap Local website and the ongoing delivery of online and offline marketing communications and consultancy services.
The results
Leap Local has a strong, eye catching brand identity and a website that presents a credible and professional image to an international audience. Website traffic has been increased through organic search engine optimisation.
The Leap Local site was ranked 15th in The Independent’s Fifty Best Travel Sites, they said

Leap Local is an organisation which aims to alleviate poverty in Lesser Developed Countries through giving local communities access to tourism. This is achieved by promoting local guides and services to an international market through a web portal.
The focus of the organisation is the promotion and facilitation of responsible tourism. Tourists can get in touch with recommended local guides and services in developing countries. By using these local people the money from the tourists can be retained in the local economy.
